Abstract

The integration of generative artificial intelligence (AI), immersive technology and educational metaverse environments is transforming teacher education while establishing new forms of educational engagement. Current research has offered critical insights into AI adoption, AI literacy, immersive learning and educational outcomes. However, existing research provides limited conceptual explanation of how educators and intelligent systems collaboratively enact educational activity within AI-Augmented Educational Metaverse Ecosystems. This conceptual research intends to solve this gap by offering an agency-centered paradigm to explain Human-AI collaboration in AI-Augmented Educational Metaverse Ecosystems. In this paradigm, Human Agency and AI Agency are considered as basic skills for instructional action. It is argued that Human-AI Co-Agency is a relational mechanism that aligns and collaboratively performs these contributions inside shared educational processes. This manner, the study shifts the emphasis from technology adoption to collaborative educational engagement as the primary unit of analysis. The framework advances the conceptual understanding of Human-AI collaboration and lays the foundation for Human-AI Co-Agency as a platform for future learning and professional practice in teacher education.
